From the beginning of February 2025, the tariff for electricity in Ukraine will be UAH 4.32 per 1 kWh. The government made this decision within the framework of the mechanism of imposition of special duties (NSO). The next revision of the tariff will probably take place only after the end of the heating season, but there may not be any changes.
How to pay less for electricity?
Ukrainians can save by using multi-zone meters, which allow paying for electricity consumption at differentiated tariffs depending on the time of day:
- Two-zone meter:
At night (from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.), the tariff is halved - to UAH 2.16 per 1 kWh. For all other hours, the standard rate is UAH 4.32. - Three-zone meter:
- Night tariff (23:00–07:00): UAH 1,728 per 1 kWh.
- Half-peak (07:00–08:00, 11:00–20:00, 22:00–23:00): UAH 4.34 per 1 kWh.
- Peak (08:00–11:00, 20:00–22:00): UAH 6.48 per 1 kWh.
Who benefits from a three-zone meter?
This type of accounting is suitable for those who have a significant consumption of electricity and can change their habits of using appliances. For example, if you avoid using electrical appliances during peak hours, the three-zone tariff will allow you to significantly reduce costs.
How to switch to a multi-zone tariff?
- Buy a suitable multi-zone meter.
- Contact the electricity supplier with a request to switch to a new tariff.
- After installing the meter and adjusting the tariff accounting, use electricity according to the zonal consumption schedules.
Useful tips for saving
- Use energy-intensive appliances (washing machine or dishwasher) at night.
- Plan to charge devices (electric cars, batteries) during the period of the lowest tariffs.
- Analyze your consumption and adjust your life according to the zonal tariff.
By switching to multi-zone tariffs, consumers can optimize their electricity costs even if tariffs rise in the future.
