Former head of the Odessa Regional CCC and JV Yevhen Borisov, who is involved in several criminal proceedings, may soon leave the pre-trial detention center. The court has decided to reduce the amount of bail from 450 million hryvnias to 44 million.
According to the Absolution detective agency, several companies and individuals raised the necessary funds for bail. Among them were well-known lawyers Vitaliy Serdyuk and Oleksandr Babikov, who previously represented the interests of fugitive President Viktor Yanukovych.
Babikov previously held the position of Deputy Director of the State Bureau of Investigation, and currently defends Oleg Maltsev, an Odessa swindler and organizer of the terrorist group "Templars".
The fact that lawyers from Yanukovych's entourage participated in raising funds for bail for Borisov is causing public outcry and questions about the origin of the money and the connections between the participants in the scheme.
Yevgeny Borisov is one of the most famous figures in the cases of abuse in military commissariats. He has been repeatedly suspected of corruption and illegal enrichment. According to the State Bureau of Investigation, Borisov forged documents to illegally obtain the status of a wounded person during the war.
