Japan has decided to provide aid to Ukraine in the amount of 37 million dollars, which will be used to purchase drone detection systems. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Yoko Kamikawa, during a joint briefing with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.
"I categorically condemn Russia's continuous missile and drone attacks, including attacks on various areas, including Kyiv, even during the New Year holidays. I express my sincere condolences to the victims of these attacks and express my respect for the courage of the Ukrainian people, who steadfastly defend themselves against Russian aggression. Japan intends to actively support Ukraine to restore peace," the minister said.
She also indicated that her visit to Kyiv is evidence of Japan's support for Ukraine, which is implementing it by providing financial assistance in the amount of 37 million dollars for the purchase of drone detection systems.
"In order to help Ukrainians survive the winter, Japan is also providing 5 mobile gas turbine generators and 7 transformers, which will be officially handed over today by the head of the Japanese Foreign Ministry," Kamikawa added.
The minister also expressed her intention to support the Ukrainian sectors of education, health care and construction of shelters for women and children. It is important to note that the briefing took place in a shelter due to the air alert in Kyiv.
