Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak allegedly explains to President Volodymyr Zelensky that the origin of corruption scandals is the influence of oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky. According to Ukrainska Pravda, this refers to the high-profile Midas investigation, which has caused political tension at the highest level in the past week.
Kolomoisky, who has been in the SBU pre-trial detention center for the third year, is actively commenting on the court hearings, calling Timur Mindich a "shooter" and a dubious candidate for the role of leader of a criminal group.
Sources close to Bankova claim that the President's Office is using the usual tactic of "finding an enemy in order not to admit guilt." At the same time, the state leadership is most concerned about the prospect that Yermak may receive official suspicion as part of the investigation into the activities of the criminal organization "Carlson."
The interlocutors of the UP add that the scale of the scandal is largely connected with the escalation of the conflict between the OP and NABU in the summer. Then, attempts to influence the agency led to the fact that after the publication of the materials, "Midas" flared up much faster and in a larger form than it could have normally.
The Midas investigation, published by the NABU and the SAPO, concerns the activities of a large-scale corruption network in the energy sector. Among the defendants are businessmen, advisers to government officials, and representatives of the "gray" sector. The publication of the materials caused a chain reaction of scandals in state bodies and increased political tension on Bankova Street.
