Presidential Head Andriy Yermak said Vladimir Putin has actually ignored the ceasefire from May 12. He said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
“I think it is not news for Ukrainians. We have negotiated with the aggressor for years and know how they can take time. Ukraine is above all striving for a just and strong peace. And we talk about it at all levels. That is why we constantly emphasize: Ukraine is ready for any negotiation format, ”Yermak said.
He stressed that Ukraine has already supported the US initiative and European partners on a comprehensive 30-day ceasefire and expects a similar reaction from Moscow.
“Today the ball is on the side of Moscow. If the Kremlin is really interested in peace - he knows what to do. Ukraine is for peace, but not for its imitation, ”Yermak summed up.
We will remind, on May 10, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with the leaders of European countries, addressed Russia with an ultimatum: either the Kremlin agrees to the unconditional ceasefire from May 13, or will receive new sanctions.
In response, Putin suggested that he negotiate directly with Ukraine in Turkey, not giving a clear answer to the offer about the truce.
President Zelensky said he would arrive in Turkey on Thursday and expects the Russian side to participate in the negotiations.
