In the Swiss city where the Eurovision competition is held this year, the first semifinals were held on May 13, which ended with a dramatic solution for Ukrainian viewers. Ukraine has reached the finale of the competition last - taking away the last, tenth ticket. Our country is represented by Ziferblat with a Bird of Pray composition.
The peculiarity of this year's show was the change in the format of the announcement of the results. Instead of the usual random list of finalists, the organizers demonstrated a new intrigue: the names of three countries appear on the screen, of which only one passes on. Thus, at the end of the show, six countries competed for a single free place in the finals - and Ukraine received it.
In addition to Ziferblat, the finals also passed:
-
Tommy Cash (Estonia),
-
Claude (Netherlands),
-
Kyle Alessandro (Norway),
-
VAEB (Iceland),
-
Justina Stechkovskaya (Poland),
-
Gabrie Ponte (San Marino),
-
NAPA (Portugal).
The Ukrainian band provoked a strong emotional reaction of the audience, and the Song of Bird of Pray , which combines electronics, folk motifs and experimental vocals, has already begun to be actively discussed on social networks and fan forums. Ziferblat is known for its atmospheric sound and deep images - and seems to be able to convince the audience of its uniqueness.
The final of the competition will take place on May 18. Ukraine will compete with the winners of the second semifinals, which will take place on May 15, as well as with the countries of the Great Five (United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain) and the host of the show - Switzerland.
