Ukrainian volunteer Roman Donik publicly criticized the Ministry of Defense's initiative to possibly solve the problems of mobilization and cases of unauthorized abandonment of the unit by attracting foreigners.
In his statement, he cited the example of Colombian citizens who fought on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine . According to Donic, the first volunteers were motivated fighters, but later, in his opinion, those who were looking for work began to come to Ukraine.
"They went not to fight. They went for the money. To serve, yes, but in a way that is convenient for them," the volunteer noted. He claims that some foreigners avoided participating in combat missions, insisted on continuing training instead of completing tasks, voluntarily left positions during threats, and broke contracts.
According to him, it was precisely because of a number of problems that certain units with the participation of foreigners were disbanded. Donik emphasized that he does not see a simple mechanism for resolving the issues of mobilization and the SZCH through the broader involvement of foreign fighters.
The volunteer also emphasized that most of the so-called "military romantics" who were ideologically motivated are already on both sides of the front. In his opinion, expecting foreign contractors to solve personnel problems en masse is overly optimistic.
Earlier, representatives of the defense ministry announced the development of a comprehensive plan that includes a number of solutions to overcome difficulties with staffing the army. At the same time, the discussion about the advisability of involving foreigners continues both in the military environment and in society.
