A fire broke out in the village of Ivanivka in the Mykolaiv region, which could have turned into a tragedy if not for the courage of 16-year-old Dmytro. The young man, risking his life, carried his younger brother Vladyslav, who is only eight years old, out of the burning house.
This was reported by the State Emergency Service. The mother of six children, Lyudmila Amalska, was in the yard when she smelled smoke.
Her children were still asleep. Vladyk, the youngest son, was in the greatest danger - thick smoke quickly filled the house, and it was almost impossible to find him. Lyudmila tried to save her son, but could not because of the smoke.
Hearing his mother's scream, 16-year-old Dmytro rushed into the burning house without hesitation. He groped for his brother and carried him in his arms. Despite the thick smoke and danger, the boy handed Vladyk to his mother, who immediately gave him first aid.
But the brave young man did not stop there. Together with another brother, Kirill, he tried to put out the fire before the rescuers arrived to save the house for a large family.
Vladyslav received burns and is currently being treated in Mykolaiv. He underwent an operation, but the doctors hope for his speedy recovery. Dmitry speaks warmly about his brother.
"Vladik is very kind and obedient. I am very sorry for him, but I believe that he will recover quickly and we will be together again," said the teenager.
The rescuers honored Dmytro's bravery by presenting the family with valuables and giving the children goodies. The family is temporarily staying with relatives, and neighbors together with them are helping to rebuild the house after the fire.
