Denise Brown, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine, condemned Russia's attacks on the Pokrovsky district of Donetsk region that killed 11 civilians, including five children. She said the strikes were part of a series of attacks on major Ukrainian cities that caused widespread casualties and destruction.
In her statement, Brown expressed outrage at these events, highlighting the total number of victims and injuries among women, children and men. She emphasized that since December 29, the UN has recorded more than 120 deaths and almost 480 injuries of civilians in Ukraine. Each of these statistics, according to the UN coordinator, represents a story of incredible suffering.
Denise Brown expressed her condolences to the families of the victims and all residents of Pokrovsk. She also stressed that indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas are completely unacceptable and prohibited by international humanitarian law. She called for an end to such events, stating: “This must stop.”.
