The special operation that led to the attack on an oil depot and energy facility in the Russian city of Orel was carried out by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR), a source in Ukrainian intelligence reported.
"Ukrainian military intelligence is behind the attack on facilities in Orel," the source said, without naming specific units or individuals who took part in the special operation.
The interlocutor also added that the operation was carried out with the assistance of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the “Return Alive” Foundation.
Today, January 9, explosions were heard in the Russian city of Orel, which the Russians perceived as a drone attack. According to information from propaganda Telegram channels, the attack occurred on the territory of the Orelnaftoprodukt oil depot and the Orelenergo energy company. One of the drones hit a fuel tank on the territory of the oil depot. Details of the attack remain unknown.
Air defense also recorded similar events in the Kursk region. There is no detailed information yet on the causes and consequences of the attack.
