In Ukraine, over the past six months, 20 of the 31 M1A1 Abrams tanks that the US delivered to the Ukrainian army were destroyed, Military Watch Magazine reports.
As noted in the publication, one of the Abrams tanks in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine was recently destroyed in the Kursk region of Russia. This incident was the first time an Abrams tank had been destroyed in the region. Previously, these tanks were used in the combat zone near Avdiivka.
Since the delivery of Abrams tanks to Ukraine at the end of 2023, the total losses of these armored vehicles have reached 20 units. All tanks were destroyed in the last six months. In addition, it is noted that although Leopard tanks are coming from all over Europe, in particular from Spain, further deliveries of Abrams tanks from the US are unlikely.
Military Watch Magazine also reports that Ukrainian servicemen express dissatisfaction with the technical characteristics of Abrams tanks, in particular, their vulnerability to Russian fire. This calls into question the effectiveness and expediency of further use of these tanks in the current conditions of war.
