In October, the epidemic season began in Ukraine, and during this period, almost two million citizens fell ill with acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), influenza and COVID-19. This was reported by the Ministry of Health.
In the week from December 24 to 31, the situation with morbidity was as follows:
- The total number of SARS cases was 130,359, including 69,839 with an average age of less than 17 years. Hospitals received 4,595 patients, of which 2,417 were children.
- Influenza A and B viruses are actively circulating in 9 regions of Ukraine. In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, three people died from complications of the flu.
- 6,746 cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed, of which 1,562 patients were hospitalized. 39 Ukrainians died from the coronavirus, including two children under the age of 14.
The Ministry of Health emphasizes that protection against a severe course of COVID-19 is provided by three vaccinations: two doses of the primary vaccination and the first booster vaccination after 5 months. All subsequent vaccinations after the third are called an additional booster. The doctor determines the need for an additional booster vaccination.
From 2024, vaccinations against COVID-19 will remain free for all citizens of Ukraine.
We will remind you that the Director General of the WHO recommends continuing to use masks and maintain social distance to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
