The World Health Organization is investigating an outbreak of a possible new disease in Congo. According to the WHO, "acute pneumonia, influenza, Covid-19, measles and malaria" could be the cause of the mysterious disease that arose in the southwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Malaria is endemic in this region and can cause or contribute to severe cases. It is also possible that several diseases are currently involved in the number of cases and deaths
406 cases of the disease have been registered in the remote Panzi district of Kwang'o province. 31 people died. Children are mostly sick, especially those under the age of five. All are severely malnourished.
