Kostyantyn Ilchenko, an adviser to the Center for Strategic Studies, expressed concern about manipulations by the authorities regarding possible negotiations with Russia. Ilchenko believes that the current situation indicates serious threats to the national security and sovereignty of Ukraine.
Negotiating with the enemy is an act of betrayal
Ilchenko notes: "Negotiations with the enemy during war is an act of treason. Sovereignty and territorial integrity are the most important functions of the state, according to the Constitution of Ukraine." According to him, the authorities are trying to manipulate public opinion through dubious sociological polls that supposedly support the idea of surrender.
Manipulation and ignoring the Constitution
He notes that "Bankova, ignoring the Constitution and the will of the people, allows polls to be conducted, the purpose of which is to create the appearance of support for surrender among Ukrainians." This is accompanied by headlines in the media that allegedly indicate significant support for the idea of a truce. Ilchenko emphasizes: "These polls are a primitive manipulation, because those who fought and who are fighting now did not take part in them. Our opinion is decisive."
Ilchenko notes that President Zelensky suddenly forgets about his decree prohibiting negotiations with Putin, and instead talks about the possibility of Russia's participation in the next peace summit. Ilchenko claims: "This is part of a strategy that includes the agitation of various 'opinion leaders' for peace at the expense of Ukrainian territories."
Political and international motives
He draws attention to the political component of the situation, believing that the White House and the Ukrainian authorities need to conclude capitulation agreements with Russia before the US presidential election. Otherwise, if the Republicans win, the Biden administration may face an investigation and serious consequences. Ilchenko notes: "The Biden administration and the Ukrainian authorities need to sign capitulation agreements before the US presidential election. If the Republicans win, the Biden administration could face an investigation."
Ilchenko warns that peace agreements could lead to even more bloodshed and become a signal to Russia about the possibility of preparing for a new strike. "Peace agreements will definitely bring more grief and blood. This is a guaranteed stoppage of the front, which will give Russia the opportunity to accumulate weapons and prepare for a new strike," he emphasizes. The adviser also warns that an attempt to sign capitulation agreements could trigger a civil war, as Ukrainians will not accept treasonous decisions. "An attempt to sign the so-called a victorious capitulation will lead to a civil war, because it will be impossible to accept this," Ilchenko adds.
Constitution and legality
Ilchenko emphasizes that any attempts to conclude agreements on surrender will be a violation of the Constitution and the Criminal Code of Ukraine, in particular Art. 111 KKU. "The laws and the Constitution have not been abolished yet. Therefore, you will have to answer. In particular, according to Art. 111 of the Criminal Code, which stipulates punishment for treason," he says.
He calls on Ukrainians not to allow the authorities to betray national interests and to defend the country's sovereignty. "Manipulations and attempts to avoid responsibility will not succeed. Ukrainians must protect their rights and freedoms, and the last word is not for Zelensky or Putin, but for us, Ukrainians," Ilchenko summarizes.
