In connection with the deepening of strained relations with Russia, the Air Force is considering new methods of storing F-16 fighters to protect them from possible threats from the Russian Federation. According to representatives of the Air Force, the construction of underground storage facilities and bunkers is a costly and time-consuming process, so alternative storage methods are being developed.
"These are colossal funds, if we are talking about digging underground, storage, bunkers. This also takes time. Therefore, other methods are now being developed, how to arrange where to place. We understand that this will be a distributed use on different types of runways, airfields where it will be difficult for the enemy to find them," Yevlash said.
He says that "a different set of methods will be used to confuse the enemy and at the same time effectively use" the aircraft.
He did not name specific methods, but noted that "there are already a number of developments and opinions on how to deploy F-16 aircraft in Ukraine."
As a reminder, the planes are expected in Ukraine this year.
