Seventeen people were stopped by border guards from the Mukachevo detachment at the border with Hungary. Yesterday evening, based on information from the operational-search department, border guards from the Kosyno and Luzhanka departments found 12 people trying to cross the border on the outskirts of the village of Velyka Byygan. During further searches using a drone, 5 more people were found.
16 of the detainees intended to illegally enter Hungary. They are residents of nine different regions of Ukraine: Dnipropetrovsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zaporizhia, Zakarpattia and Lviv. The attackers were accompanied by a 27-year-old local resident, who, together with five of his "clients", tried to evade border guards.
The detainees were taken to the border unit to draw up reports on the administrative offenses committed and to clarify the circumstances. All 16 men paid the smugglers 111.5 thousand US dollars.
Currently, the operative-search units of the Mukachevo detachment are identifying individuals involved in organizing illegal activities. Regarding the actions of a 27-year-old Transcarpathian, possibly the perpetrator, the border guards have sent a report to the National Police under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Illegal smuggling of persons across the state border of Ukraine.”.
