On March 18, draft law No. 11087 was registered, which provides for the creation of a new body - the Specialized Economic Prosecutor's Office (SEP). People's deputy Yaroslav Zhelezniak made this information public.
The specialized economic prosecutor's office will be an independent unit that will be responsible for procedural supervision in criminal cases in the economic sphere. In other words, its task will be to monitor compliance with laws and the rights of legal businesses.
The new prosecutor's office will be formed on the basis of the economic departments of the General Prosecutor's Office and relevant units of regional prosecutor's offices.
"Creation of the SEP will make it possible to transform the already existing departments of the prosecutor's office into a unit independent of political influence," said People's Deputy Zheleznyak.
The selection of employees of the new prosecutor's office will be conducted through a competition.
However, People's Deputy from the Servant of the People Maksym Buzhansky expressed a negative attitude towards this initiative:
"People's deputy Zheleznyak proposes to create a Specialized Economic Prosecutor's Office, SEP. We already have SAP, and now we are offering SEP. You can add SIP, special investment prosecutor's office, SOP, special operational prosecutor's office, SUP, special criminal prosecutor's office, SYP, special poor prosecutor's office, and SUP, special justice prosecutor's office. When the budget is desperately short of money, the war is in its most dramatic phase, and state institutions are working at a grinding halt, what could be better than complicating everything, paralyzing and finally breaking the work of law enforcement agencies? A country where no one has time to work, because the contest follows the contest, and then the contest instead of the held contest, followed by the re-certification of the winners of the held contest, well, how can you not get carried away by such ideas? SAP, SEP, SYAP, SOP, SIP, SUP, SUP, perfect in my opinion. If you think about it, you should immediately add the position of special economic prosecutor of the community. It is important to have it in every house!"
