The bill on mobilization was sent to the president for his signature

The draft law on mobilization No. 10449 awaits the signature of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi after it was already signed by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, reports Maria Kucheryavets.

According to information on the website of the Verkhovna Rada, the bill on mobilization has received the signature of the speaker of the parliament and is awaiting final approval by the president. After that, in a month, the law will become effective.

The law on mobilization, which was approved by the Verkhovna Rada on April 11 in the second reading, provides for a number of important provisions:

  • Instead of military conscription, basic military service of 5 months in peacetime and 3 months in wartime is introduced. Young people under the age of 24 will be able to choose the period and year of basic service.
  • Basic military training is being introduced, which from 2025 will become a component of the educational process in all higher education institutions of various forms of ownership.
  • The process of updating military records is becoming more accessible, allowing citizens to do so online or through local administrative service centers. Also, military personnel and reservists can create a personal electronic cabinet.
  • There remains a provision on the right to demobilization for people with disabilities and those returning from captivity who wish to end military service.
  • Those who have been found to be of limited fitness are entitled to a second medical examination.
  • Military personnel who entered into the first contract can receive compensation of 50% of the first payment for a loan secured by a mortgage.
  • With regard to consular services abroad, citizens have 60 days to update their personal military registration data, which can be done remotely.
  • The law places restrictions on the right to drive for those who evade military service, with exceptions.
  • During the inspection of documents by representatives of military commissariats or the police, photo and video recording will be carried out to ensure the correctness of the procedure.
  • Citizens aged 18 to 60, who are on military registration or have been removed from it, must have a military registration document with them during the period of mobilization. The draft law on mobilization was sent to Zelenskyi 1 for signature
