The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denied rumors about a possible lowering of the mobilization age. Instead, the military department is focused on implementing incentive contracts for youth aged 18-25. This initiative can become a new approach to the involvement of citizens in the service, providing a balance between military duty and social guarantees.
According to information obtained by OBOZ.UA from a source in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, under the new contract young people will serve in combat brigades for one year. During this time, they will undergo training and full military training.
"They sign a contract, serve for a year, and then get fired. After that, up to 25 years, they will have the right to deferment," the interlocutor said.
The contract includes not only payments, but also a special social package. For the 18-25 age group, this package will be significantly expanded to motivate young people to join the service.
Legislative changes are necessary to implement the initiative. The General Staff notes that relevant proposals have already been developed and submitted to the Ministry of Defense for consideration. Preliminary approval of the initiative in the Ministry of Defense gives reason to hope for its quick implementation.
"We have developed proposals, now we are working on their implementation. This is a new approach that will help attract young people to the service without coercion," said a source in the General Staff.
Military experts point out that attracting young people through incentive contracts can be an effective alternative to traditional methods of mobilization. This will avoid social tension and create conditions under which service in the army becomes an opportunity for personal development, and not just an obligation.
