The launch of the subway to the vineyard in Kiev was officially transferred to the end of 2028. Such a term is contained in the program of socio-economic development of the capital, but its reality is a big question: the financing of the project remains critical.
This was discussed on the air of the national telephone "Uniform News", said the deputy of the Kyiv City Council Andriy Vitrenko.
The total estimate of the construction of the subway for the vineyard is estimated at UAH 24 billion. However, there is almost no real money in the city budget. According to Vitrenko, who heads the Kyiv City Council's Permanent Budget Commission, only about 290 million hryvnias have been funded - this is only a few percent of the necessary.
The budget project for 2025 has another 700 million, and within the possible redistribution - an additional billion. In total, about UAH 1.7 billion. But this is not even enough for basic work.
Vitrenko emphasizes that in martial law, the capital cannot physically provide funding for such a large infrastructure object by itself. There is hope for the help of international partners - in particular the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development or World Bank. However, there are no confirmed agreements so far.
Despite the lack of funds, the city authorities continue to announce tenders. A new announcement of the subway on Vynohradar appeared on the Prozorro portal. The goal is to find a contractor to complete the work. The previous term of commissioning of new stations was called the end of 2026, but it is clear that this date will not be maintained.
The subway project was launched in 2018, and since then it has stopped repeatedly due to changes in contractors, scandals, financial difficulties and a full -scale war. According to the design, the new subway section should connect the existing Syrets station with the Vynohradar neighborhood, where tens of thousands of people live. But given the current dynamics, residents of the area may not see the subway even for the next four years.
