The deputy general director of Ukroboronprom leads a luxurious life during the war

Oleksandr Pashchenko, the deputy general director of JSC "Ukroboroprom", imitates a luxurious lifestyle during the war period and goes on vacation to the countries of the European Union, using false documents.

The first big scandal related to the Pashchenko family happened back in 2015. At that time, personnel policy at Ukroboronprom raised many questions, and new appointments in the concern regularly led to major scandals. For example, in July 2015, Oleksandr Pashchenko, who was 30 years old at the time, was appointed to the position of manager at the key enterprise of Ukroboronprom, the Kharkiv FED machine-building plant. He is the son of Yuri Pashchenko, the deputy of Roman Romanov, responsible for aircraft construction and production in the concern. Pashchenko Sr. was also a member of the competitive commission that selected and appointed managers of key enterprises.

The father helped his son to occupy a high position in Ukroboronprom, which was considered the norm at the time, and questions about nepotism did not arise.

At that time, a large investigation called "Klan" was conducted by journalists on the Hromadsky channel based on data collected under the name Investigation.Info.

Yuriy Pashchenko shared with journalists his impressive impression about the appointment of his son, which reveals many thoughts.

"I am not ashamed to show him, I am proud of my son," said Pashchenko.

The "Klan" investigation revealed the internal processes of appointments to key positions in "Ukroboronprom" and became the stimulus for many other processes, such as external audits and even investigations.

Deputies wrote an appeal to the general prosecutor regarding a direct conflict of interest in the appointment of Oleksandr Pashchenko. It should be noted that the head of SE "KHMZ FED" was directly subordinated to the deputy general director for aircraft construction and production of DK "Ukroboronprom" Yury Pashchenko (his father).

The chief military prosecutor A. Mathios confirmed the existence of a conflict of interests, which could be the basis for criminal liability. However, due to legislative conflicts, prosecutor's offices do not have the authority to conduct inspections in the field of anti-corruption.

The General Prosecutor's Office sent a letter to the then head of the concern, Roman Romanov, recommending the release of Pashchenko Jr. to prevent corruption.

However, thanks to the patronage of his father and the top management of the concern, Oleksandr Pashchenko worked in his position for 3 years and continued his career growth in the defense industry.

During the years of civil service, having an average salary, Oleksandr Pashchenko acquired a significant fortune. His declared property exceeds 8.5 million hryvnias, but there are questions about the completeness of the declaration.

The difference between the value of the declared real estate and car fleet and Pashchenko's official income in state structures is significant. For example, his fleet includes cars such as Maserati Quattroporte, Audi A3 e-tron, Lexus ES 250 and Mercedes-Benz GLE 400. An undeclared cruise boat from the American shipyard Rinker, model 280, is also worth noting, as its value is estimated at 3-3, 5 million hryvnias.

Oleksandr Pashchenko owns four apartments in Kyiv and a plot of land in the region, the total value of which is almost 4.5 million hryvnias.

The figure has 7 accounts in different banks where he keeps funds. His last declaration indicated the presence of 72 thousand US dollars in cash.

The information about receiving gifts in monetary form looks especially suspicious. For example, in 2016, at the beginning of her work at the Fed, Oleksandr Pashchenko's wife received a cash gift in the amount of 1 million 572 thousand hryvnias. A similar trend is observed in subsequent years:

  • In 2019, 270 thousand hryvnias were presented to the father.
  • In 2020, 2 million 108 thousand hryvnias were presented to his wife.
  • In 2022, 800 thousand hryvnias were transferred to the father.

During the full-scale war, Oleksandr Pashchenko changed his field of activity. Using his connections in the military concern and the support of his father, he appointed his best man to his previous position.

He himself systematically travels illegally to the countries of the European Union with the help of forged documents. There he established a brokerage business, offering "issue resolution" services in Ukraine to suppliers of military goods.

Earning through mediation and no longer having the obligation to declare his wealth, Oleksandr Pashchenko leads a luxurious lifestyle even during the full-scale war in Ukraine.

For example, for his family and friends for the New Year 2022-2023, he organized a holiday in one of the best ski resorts in Italy - La Tuile. This is a small alpine town near Mont Blanc, located in the Italian province of Val d'Aosta, near the border with France.

Pashchenko and his company spent two weeks at the resort, from December 23 to January 6, during the peak season of the New Year holidays.

Renting apartments for this period in La Thuile costs from 9,524 to 17,080 euros for 7 days, which is an impressive amount.

The question of where Pashchenko got such funds seems quite obvious. Probably, his connections in the military sphere allow him to organize schemes that bring millions of illegal profits under the auspices of his father, Yury Pashchenko.

However, are the current head of the Ukroboronprom concern Herman Smetanin and the Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin aware of this activity? This is a shady business that certainly damages the credibility of the country's entire defense industry.

Oleksandr Pashchenko is currently in Romania, where he left again on February 26, 2024 using forged documents. The Ukroboronprom concern has launched an internal investigation into the possible influence of the first deputy general director, Yury Pashchenko, and his son, Oleksandr Pashchenko, on illegal activities.
