The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) revealed serious inaccuracy in the declaration of Dmitry Vasilevsky, Deputy Head of the Department of Labor Safety in Odessa Oblast. The total amount of discrepancies exceeds UAH 3.1 million.
One of the most curious moments of revealed inaccuracy was the declaration of two bitcoins, which the official pointed out as his property. However, he could not provide any evidence of their availability, stating that he "lost access to an electronic wallet." According to his declaration, these bitcoins were purchased in 2016 for $ 900 in the book market in Odessa. The cost of the asset at the time of the audit was UAH 3.16 million. However, as experts say, any cryptocurrency transactions are left in blockchain, so without a public wallet address it is impossible to check whether these bitcoins really existed.
In addition to cryptocurrency, Vasilevsky's declaration also revealed other strange assets:
- Gold ingots for $ 10,000, which, according to the official, is a gift from his wife's family, but there are no documents to confirm this.
- The house in Odessa, purchased in August 2022, which was estimated at only 30 thousand hryvnias, although its real market value at that time was about 300 thousand hryvnias. Vasilevsky explained it with a mistake in the declaration, specifying "did not add zero".
- Apartment with an area of 36.2 square meters. m, acquired in 1998, was estimated at 16 hryvnias, while the official did not indicate that his family lives in it, which is a violation of the rules of declaration.
- The Citroen Berlingo (2006) car was not indicated in the declaration, although its official cost at the time of purchase was 47 803 hryvnias.
In general, unreliable information found in Vasilevsky's declaration applies to assets in the amount of more than UAH 3.1 million, which exceeds the criminal liability threshold. This is the basis for the opening of criminal proceedings under Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (declaring false information).
