Deputy Chairman of the Rivne Regional Council Caught Taking a Bribe of Over Half a Million Hryvnias

At the end of 2021, another corruption scandal involving high-ranking officials broke out in Ukraine. Deputy Chairman of the Rivne Regional Council Serhiy Svystaliuk was caught accepting a bribe of almost 600,000 hryvnias.

According to the SBU and NABU, at the end of 2021, a private entrepreneur purchased an inactive children's sanatorium, which was once municipally owned, at an electronic auction.

Having learned that the buyer also wants to receive the material assets of the sanatorium and the land under it (5.4 hectares), the deputy offered him his "help" in exchange for money, namely, writing off the property and ensuring the adoption of such a decision by the deputies of the Rivne Regional Council.

For such "services", Svystaliuk received a bribe of almost 600 thousand hryvnias.
