The deputy head of the Rivne Regional Council was caught taking a bribe of more than half a million hryvnias

At the end of 2021, another corruption scandal involving high-ranking officials occurred in Ukraine. The deputy head of the Rivne Regional Council, Serhiy Svistaluk, was caught accepting a bribe in the amount of almost 600,000 hryvnias.

According to the SBU and NABU, at the end of 2021, a private entrepreneur purchased a non-working children's sanatorium, which was once communally owned, at an electronic auction.

Having learned that the buyer also wants to receive the material assets of the sanatorium and the land under it (5.4 hectares), the deputy offered him his "help" for money, namely the write-off of the property and ensuring that such a decision is passed by the deputies of the Rivne Regional Council.

For such "services", Svistalyuk received a bribe of almost 600,000 hryvnias.
