On January 6, Ukrainians will traditionally celebrate Epiphany. In order to ensure safety during the celebrations, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine will deploy more than 140 rescue posts in places specially equipped for swimming. About 500 rescuers and more than 100 pieces of equipment will be on duty.
Rescuers remind that participation in celebrations should be in accordance with established rules, especially in conditions of martial law. Here are some important recommendations:
- Choose only specially equipped swimming areas where lifeguards are on duty.
- Before diving , do a warm-up to prepare your body for the sharp temperature drop.
- You should immerse yourself in the water slowly and stay in it for no more than 10-15 seconds .
- After bathing, you should immediately dry yourself with a dry towel , dress warmly, and drink hot tea.
- Avoid alcohol before and after swimming, as it puts extra strain on the heart and blood vessels.
Prohibitions and restrictions
The State Emergency Service categorically warns against swimming in unauthorized bodies of water, especially in regions near combat zones. Children should only swim under adult supervision.
Swimming areas have already been set up in Kyiv, which are regularly checked for compliance with sanitary standards. Rescuers will be on duty at each location, and the municipal enterprise “Pleso” ensures quality control of water bodies.
