The weapon was in the safe: a teenager in Chernivtsi shot himself with a brother's gun

The tragic incident happened today, July 30, in Chernivtsi on Chief Street. According to the General Directorate of the National Police in Chernivtsi Oblast, a 14-year-old teenager committed suicide, shooting a firearm.

According to preliminary information, the guy died in an ambulance without waiting for the doctors. His body is sent for forensic examination.

Law enforcement officers found that the gun from which the shot was made belongs to the eldest brother of the deceased. The weapon was officially registered and, according to the owner, was stored in the safe at the place of residence. How the teenager got access to the gun - he is currently establishing an investigation.

The incident information is entered in the Unified Register of Pre -trial Investigations under Part 1 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with a note "Suicide". Police continue to study the circumstances of the event, including possible motives for the act.

The investigation also examines the ownership of weapons and compliance with safety rules.
