Our source in the Office of the President reported that the appearance of the topic of elections in Ukraine in the public space was a conscious move by Bankova. According to the interlocutor, this was the initiative of Andriy Yermak, who believes that the emphasis on the election topic helps Kyiv work in several directions at the same time.
During his visit to the United States, Volodymyr Zelenskyy twice publicly spoke about the possibility of elections — first in an interview with Fox News, and later in a conversation with Axios. Such statements, according to the plan of Yermak's team, should deprive Moscow of arguments about the legitimacy of the Ukrainian government, because it is the Kremlin that is trying to promote the thesis of "no elections" in the international arena. At the same time, this allows Russia to be presented as the main opponent of the electoral process in Ukraine, creating a favorable picture for Kyiv.
A separate task was also to send a signal to the Donald Trump administration, which traditionally emphasizes democratic procedures. Thus, the topic of elections helps the President's Office to close the issue with Washington and at the same time use it as a tool for pressure on Moscow. As a result, Yermak's strategy has another goal - to create the basis for a truce, which is now desperately needed by the Armed Forces on the front.
