The Kremlin has announced the potential possibility of a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, as Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized, such a meeting can only take place after certain agreements are reached between the parties.
“As a result of the work of the delegations of the two sides in reaching certain agreements, we consider it possible,” Peskov said, commenting on the negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations that recently took place in Istanbul.
At the same time, the Kremlin representative emphasized that for Russia, the question of who exactly on the Ukrainian side will sign potential documents remains of fundamental importance.
Also, according to Peskov, the parties have already exchanged lists of conditions for a possible ceasefire, and work in this direction is ongoing. In particular, we are talking about a possible large-scale exchange of prisoners according to the “1,000 for 1,000” formula, which was part of the agreements in Istanbul.
At the same time, Peskov reported that there had been no contact between the leaders of Russia and the United States after the talks in Turkey. He noted that the Kremlin would inform the public if Putin and Trump decide to have a phone conversation.
