Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the continuation of negotiations with Russia on a prisoner exchange and a possible ceasefire. According to him, the Ukrainian side is implementing the agreements reached during the previous meeting in Istanbul and is already working on the next stage - a new exchange.
" We are now continuing to implement the agreements reached at the last meeting in Istanbul, and the team is working on another exchange ," Zelenskyy said.
According to information from the President's Office, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Umerov suggested that the Russian side organize another meeting next week. The goal is to speed up the process of achieving peace and intensify dialogue.
The Head of State emphasized that the negotiation process requires greater dynamics, and Russia should stop avoiding making specific decisions:
“ It is necessary to increase the negotiation dynamics. We must do everything to achieve a ceasefire. And the Russian Federation needs to stop hiding from decisions .”
Separately, the President emphasized the need to return all Ukrainian prisoners, including children, and stressed that stopping the killings and resolving the crisis in a humanitarian manner is a priority.
" We are ready for such a meeting, and it should be a meeting that will really ensure peace ," Zelenskyy concluded.
