“For what reason did a person leave the place, what happened as a result? Each situation is different, you can’t generalize about everyone. I’ll give you an example,” the president said at a meeting with students in Chernivtsi.
He said that in some cases, a situation arises where a person wanted to be transferred from one brigade to another, not because it was dangerous, but because they could not find a normal relationship with the commander.
“And left the place of service. That happens, and I don’t see any hard crime here… That’s one story,” he said.
However, according to him, there are other types of situations where an unauthorized change in the position of a serviceman, or several at once, has led to serious consequences.
“The second story. There were people, I won’t say where, because it will be clear what happened. Imagine that people talked among themselves, and some collective left their place. And because they left, and the front line is long and the distance between one company and another may not be small, because they left, they surrounded a large number of people and killed everyone. Because one person was able to put pressure on his surroundings and intimidate them, they left. The question is not that they left, but that many people died because of this person,” the president said.
Therefore, Zelensky believes that "it is impossible to amnesty everyone in general.".
