Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the mass demonstrations in Slovakia, where thousands of people protested against the policies of Prime Minister Robert Fico. These demonstrations were directed against the rapprochement of the Fico government with Russia. The protests covered more than 20 cities in the country, including the capital Bratislava, where people took to the streets with the slogan "Slovakia is Europe.".
Zelensky commented on these events on his X (Twitter) page, emphasizing that Bratislava is not Moscow, but Slovakia is part of Europe. These words of support for the protesters became a vivid statement in support of European values and the sovereignty of Slovakia.
The outcry against Fico's policies follows statements by the prime minister this week that he suspected a "coup d'état" in the country, allegedly being prepared with the participation of the opposition, NGOs, the media and foreign experts. However, the Slovak opposition denies these accusations, considering them a tactic to intimidate citizens.
