Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the country is nearing the end of its war with Russia and called on allies to more actively support the Ukrainian army, in his latest address to the international community.
He said this in an interview with ABC News.
The plan for victory is to strengthen Ukraine. That's why we ask our friends, our allies to strengthen us. This is very important. I think we are closer to peace than we think. We are closer to ending the war,
The publication notes that Zelensky has repeatedly appealed to the United States and Britain to lift restrictions on the use of long-range missiles that they provided to Ukraine to strike targets deep inside Russia.
At the same time, Russian President Putin warned that the use of Western weapons to strike Russian targets would be considered a serious escalation of the war and a direct challenge from NATO countries.
In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Putin is afraid of the Kursk operation being carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“It’s true. He is very afraid,” the Ukrainian president noted, explaining this by the fact that the Russians saw his inability to defend their territory.
