Relations between Kyiv and Washington have noticeably warmed up, giving the Ukrainian leadership reason for cautious optimism. Ukrainian government circles believe that the current political landscape in the United States creates opportunities to increase pressure on Moscow and open a negotiation window as early as next year.
Kyiv hopes that, given the growing economic and military pressure, Russia may be ready to discuss a ceasefire in the spring or summer. In this context, the Ukrainian side considers it important to intensify contacts with the American leadership and increase the exchange of intelligence for targeted operations, in particular against the enemy's energy infrastructure.
Against this backdrop, a Ukrainian delegation — consisting of representatives of the Office of the President and the government — held a series of meetings in Washington, where they discussed, in particular, how to survive the winter energy shocks and what additional resources could help Ukraine in the face of aggravation. President Zelensky intends to visit the White House to meet with the US President, and Kyiv hopes that this visit will bring concrete agreements and increased support.
At the same time, important but risky topics are being discussed: the possibility of transferring weapons with a longer range, expanding the exchange of intelligence information, and creating financial support mechanisms. In Kyiv, they believe that in order to force the Kremlin to come to negotiations, it must be inflicted with economic and military losses, which will make it impossible to continue the expensive war for Russia.
At the same time, the Ukrainian side maintains a realistic approach - they admit that another powerful offensive and a difficult winter are ahead. Therefore, the main tasks now are to strengthen defense capabilities, ensure energy stability, and diplomatically use the opportunities that are opening up in relations with the United States.
