President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Copenhagen for the summit of the European Political Community. In the Danish capital, the head of state will hold a number of bilateral meetings at the highest level and talk to media representatives. Zelenskyy's speech will be broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Office of the President.
The main topic of the meetings was the discussion of strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and the implementation of the PURL initiative. The President began negotiations with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, during which they discussed recent violations of airspace in Denmark, Poland, Romania, Norway, and Estonia. Zelensky stressed the need to respond to the escalation by Russia and proposed an integrated sky defense system with the participation of Ukrainian technologies. He noted that Denmark's contribution to the PURL program had already amounted to 90 million euros, and the total package of military assistance for Ukrainian production exceeded 360 million euros.
Zelensky then met with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. The discussions focused on continued defense support, strengthening the air defense system, financing drone production in Ukraine, and the EU initiative to create a "Drone Wall." The President thanked Norway for its support since the beginning of the full-scale aggression and reported that this year alone the country has allocated $8.5 billion for military assistance.
Presidential spokesman Sergei Nikiforov said that on the sidelines of the summit, Zelensky will hold talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev are also possible.
Before the summit, Zelensky also discussed military assistance to Ukraine with US President Donald Trump. The main topic was the supply of long-range weapons, which will significantly strengthen the defense capabilities of Ukrainian forces. Thus, the Copenhagen summit became an important stage for coordinating international support and strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.
