Zelensky updated the staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief: new appointments

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy decided on changes in the staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, including First Deputy Minister of Defense Ivan Havrylyuk. This decision was the result of a proposal by the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine and was formalized by Presidential Decree No. 678/2024, issued on October 1.

"In accordance with Article 8 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Defense of Ukraine", on the basis of the proposal of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, I decree: (...) to introduce to the staff of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Havrylyuk Ivan Yuriyovych - the first deputy minister of defense of Ukraine," the decree reads.

Ivan Gavrylyuk was appointed to the post of Deputy Minister of Defense in October 2023. Before that, he was the deputy chief inspector of the Ministry of Defense from September 2022.

On May 17, the Cabinet of Ministers dismissed Ivan Gavrylyuk, Deputy Minister of Defense, and appointed him as the first deputy of the same department.
