President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved amendments to the Law "On Local Self-Government in Ukraine", which introduce new standards of transparency and openness in the activities of local councils. This information was provided by the press service of the Verkhovna Rada.
In accordance with the innovative law, which was called “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Local Self-Government in Ukraine” to Ensure Transparency of Local Self-Government” (No. 3590-IX), the following provisions have been introduced:
- Video recordings of plenary sessions of local councils and meetings of their standing committees were recorded.
- Broadcasting of plenary sessions of local councils and meetings of their standing committees in real time via the Internet (after the end of martial law).
- Publication of video recordings of meetings on the council's official websites.
In addition, the law requires the publication of the agenda of meetings of the council's standing committees, the minutes of its meetings with the results of roll-call votes, the mandatory use of the state language during sessions, as well as the publication of public information about objects of property rights of territorial communities on the single state web portal and on the official websites of local governments.
