The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, reacted to the telephone conversation between the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, and the Russian dictator, Vladimir Putin. Against the background of Russian aggression against Ukraine, such contacts raise serious questions about the position of the Hungarian leadership.
In his comment, Zelensky emphasized that discussing the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine without the participation of Ukraine itself is unacceptable.
"We all hope that Viktor Orban will not at least call Assad in Moscow to listen to his hour-long lectures," Zelenskyy noted ironically.
He emphasized that achieving peace requires the determination of the United States, the unity of European countries, and unwavering adherence to international principles defined in the UN Charter.
The President of Ukraine called on European partners to take care not only of their own image, but also of joint success, stressing the importance of unity to achieve peace:
"You should not play on your own image at the expense of unity - you should take care of joint success. Unity in Europe always brings success."
Zelensky also thanked international partners, in particular President Donald Trump and European leaders, who are cooperating with Ukraine to find effective solutions in the fight against Russian aggression.
