In a recent conversation with US President-elect Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi emphasized that Ukraine will not rush to end the war with Russia at any cost. The statement was made against the background of an active phase of hostilities and international efforts to resolve the conflict.
"Trump knows about my desire not to rush anywhere to the detriment of Ukraine. The country has been fighting for its sovereignty for a long time. No matter how many presidents or prime ministers want to announce the end of the war, we are not going to simply give up and give up our independence," the Ukrainian president said in an interview with Le Parisien magazine.
According to him, there is a "danger" in the "freezing" of the war and quick agreements with Russia. "We have to put Putin in his place," he added.
Zelensky also stated that Trump currently does not have access to all the necessary information about the war, in particular, intelligence data, the Pentagon and diplomatic channels.
"When he is there (in the White House, - Ed.), we will be able to speak the same language, with the same level of information," said the Ukrainian president.
It will be recalled that Trump previously said that he already receives weekly reports from special services and agencies on the situation in Ukraine. On this basis, he stated that the losses of the Armed Forces were higher than officially declared.
Earlier, Donald Trump repeatedly called for an early ceasefire and said that Zelensky should be ready for negotiations with the Russian Federation to end the war. But Zelensky, as we can see, is now making it clear that he does not want to cease fire in the near future.
Yesterday, the media reported that his representative Keith Kellogg may arrive in Ukraine after the New Year.
