Zelensky: Ukraine had the opportunity to seize the Kursk NPP, but did not do so for reasons of principle

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, in an interview with the leading media of the Northern European countries, said that Ukraine has potential opportunities to capture the Kursk nuclear power plant, which is located on the territory of the Russian Federation. However, he emphasized that such actions contradict the principles of Ukraine and do not correspond to its values, because it would equate the country with the actions of Russia.

"Russia thinks they are very strong, but if we wanted to take over their nuclear plant, we would do it. We could, but we never wanted to, because we understand that it means becoming the same as Russia. We do not occupy their critical infrastructure, as they did with the Zaporizhia NPP," Zelenskyy said.

Power units of the RBMK type (reactor of large channel power), which operate at the Kursk NPP, may pose a threat to other countries in the presence of a number of shortcomings.
