Zelenskyy is negotiating with Erdogan on mediating the exchange of prisoners and other issues

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which the main topic was Turkey's mediation in the exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia.

Zelenskyi expressed gratitude for cooperation in various fields, in particular in the defense sector, and emphasized the existence of joint successful projects. The president also expressed his intention to do even more to strengthen relations between the two countries this year.

In the conversation, the importance of cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey to ensure security in the Black Sea region was noted. Zelenskyi expressed his gratitude for the support of the maritime export corridor and shared the statistics of more than 14 million tons of cargo transported through this corridor.

Work on a peace formula was also discussed during the talks, and Turkey's representative was invited to a meeting at the level of advisors to be held in Switzerland. The President expressed special attention to the clause of the peace formula, which refers to the return of all captured and deported persons. Zelenskyi emphasized the importance of Turkey's mediation for the release of Ukrainian children kidnapped by the Russians, as well as the return of prisoners and those who are under repression in the occupied territories, in particular in Crimea.
