President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has decided to liquidate the medical and social expert commissions (MSEC) as part of the fight against corruption in the field of disability recognition. He called for the development of a relevant bill that provides for the liquidation of the MSEC from December 31, 2024.
The Head of State put into effect the NSDC decision of October 22, 2024 “On countering corruption and other offenses when establishing disability for officials of state bodies.”.
Among other things, Zelensky demands that a bill be developed and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration, which would provide for the elimination of medical and social expert commissions from December 31, 2024.
“… development and submission to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for consideration… within a month of a draft law on amendments to certain laws of Ukraine regarding the introduction of an assessment of a person with limitations in daily functioning, developed to ensure urgent reform of the system of medical and social expertise in Ukraine, providing, in particular, for the liquidation of medical and social expert commissions from December 31, 2024,” the document states.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has initiated an urgent meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) regarding the situation with the MSEC and fake disabilities. Zelensky expects swift action from law enforcement to expose corruption schemes and punish the perpetrators.
After the NSDC meeting, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin announced his resignation.
