President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has sharply spoke about MPs who may not support the ratification of the Mineral Cooperation Agreement with the United States. During a conversation with journalists on May 3, he stated that he considers it advisable to cancel US visas for those parliamentarians who would not vote for the document.
“There are people not to do so. So, for example, I think the US should just cancel their visas. They come to the United States every month. They tell how badly in Ukraine, how to end the war very quickly, which parts of Ukraine are important, which are not very important, ”Zelensky said.
The President stressed that the support of the agreement is not just important in terms of cooperation with US partners, but is critically necessary for preserving Ukrainian statehood in a war with Russia. According to him, deputies cannot "play a double game" - to go to the United States, build an image of allies, and then refuse to support the key to both countries.
"The result will be on the scoreboard: who voted and who is not," the president emphasized.
Recall that the Verkhovna Rada should consider the ratification of the US Agreement on May 8. According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the document is part of a broader cooperation in the energy sector.
The agreement provides for the creation of an investment fund of reconstruction, which should attract US and international investments in the Ukrainian economy, in particular in the field of natural resources development. The document was signed on the night of May 1, the first vice-minister-the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko.
President Zelensky said it was one of the first arrangements after his historical meeting with US President Donald Trump in the Vatican on April 26. The Verkhovna Rada must be approved in order to enter into force.
