Demobilization during the war is not provided for by law, Zelenskyi said. He said this in an interview with the French media BFM TV and Le Monde, the Office of the President reports.
"There is a debate among parliamentarians, they argue about when the boys can be fired, when not, which of them can be fired, etc. In ordinary law, there is no demobilization in time of war. No one expected this. Therefore, there are various issues: regarding rotation, vacations," the president said in an interview with the French mass media.
The President noted that there is currently a lot of misinformation about the mobilization in Ukraine. He emphasized that the mobilization was from the beginning of the war and continued every few months. According to Ukrainian legislation, the mobilization never stopped.
Zelensky said that when you are in a war, you understand that this or that legislation was adopted by the parliament, but in peacetime. However, during the war, the state comes to more practical details. Therefore, amendments to the law on mobilization regarding some practical steps are pending in the parliament. In particular, the first reading was passed, but the debate continues. Parliamentarians argue when it is possible to release fighters and when not.
"Because in ordinary wartime, demobilization during war does not exist in ordinary legislation, that is, no one counts on it or did not count on it," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
He noted that there are various issues regarding rotations and vacations. In particular, the military wants to know what can be improved, and the parliamentarians want to see the possible consequences for certain sections of the population.
The president added that after the end of the debate, the parliament will vote on the draft law on mobilization.
