Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that US President Donald Trump's team may consider ending the war in Ukraine through territorial concessions from Kyiv. He said this in an interview with an American publication.
According to the head of state, Washington's desire to quickly end the war is understandable, but a possible approach that involves territorial concessions carries serious risks for Ukraine's security.
Zelensky also expressed concern that after the end of the war with Iran, the American administration's attention may once again shift to the Ukrainian issue. In that case, he said, pressure on Kyiv to agree to compromises to end the hostilities may be renewed.
The President emphasized that Ukraine cannot agree to conditions that effectively place responsibility for the war on the victim of aggression.
"They want to end the war. But why should we pay for it? We are not the aggressors," Zelensky emphasized.
Kyiv has repeatedly stated that any negotiations to end the war must take place taking into account the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The issue of the future format of peace agreements remains one of the key ones in international politics against the backdrop of ongoing Russian aggression.
