President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told PBS that Ukraine's air defense forces were in a critical situation due to a lack of missiles to repel an air attack by the Russian Federation. This led to the destruction of the Trypillya thermal power plant.
According to Zelensky, Russian forces fired 11 missiles at the Trypillya TPP. Of the seven missiles, Ukrainian forces were able to hit only the first seven, but the remaining four led to the destruction of the power plant, as the Ukrainian side had already used up all its available missiles.
The President also stressed that Ukraine faces restrictions in receiving direct support, as this could provoke a reaction that NATO countries are being drawn into the conflict. According to him, an example is Israel, which is not a member of the North Atlantic Alliance, but has received support from NATO allies during conflicts.
Zelenskyy called on the world to take this example into account and stressed the importance of helping Ukraine without drawing NATO countries into the war.
