In a recent statement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sharply criticized a peace plan proposed by Brazil and China to end the war in Ukraine. Zelensky described the plan as “destructive,” expressing doubts about its effectiveness and potential consequences for Ukraine.
"The Chinese-Brazilian proposal is also destructive, it's just a political statement. And I told Lula (the president of Brazil), and we told the Chinese side: 'Let's sit down together, let's talk together.' You are not our enemies, we are not your enemies. Why did you suddenly decide that you should side with Russia or be somewhere in the middle?" the president said in an interview with the Brazilian newspaper Metrópoles.
Zelensky is confident that the Sino-Brazilian peace plan was agreed upon in advance with the Kremlin.
"We're not stupid. What is this theater for?" he said.
Zelensky also called the Brazilian government "pro-Russian" and called on it to do more to support Ukraine's position on ending the war.
Recall that the Sino-Brazilian peace plan provides for a halt to the war on the front lines. This directly contradicts Zelensky's "peace formula," which provides for the withdrawal of Russian troops to the 1991 borders.
