Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an interview with leading media outlets in Northern Europe, stated that Ukraine has the potential to seize the Kursk nuclear power plant, which is located on the territory of the Russian Federation. However, he emphasized that such actions contradict Ukraine's principles and do not correspond to its values, as this would equate the country with Russia's actions.
“Russia thinks they are very strong, but if we wanted to seize their nuclear power plant, we would do it. We could, but we never wanted to, because we understand that it means becoming like Russia. We are not occupying their critical infrastructure, as they did with the Zaporizhzhia NPP,” Zelensky said.
RBMK (large-bore channel reactor) power units operating at the Kursk NPP may pose a threat to other countries if they have a number of shortcomings.
