President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has decided to change the composition of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters, including First Deputy Minister of Defense Ivan Havrylyuk. This decision was the result of a proposal by the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine and was formalized by presidential decree No. 678/2024, issued on October 1.
“In accordance with Article 8 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Defense of Ukraine”, based on the proposal of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, I hereby decree: (…) to introduce Ivan Yuriyovych Havrylyuk, First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, to the personnel of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief,” the decree states.
Ivan Havrylyuk was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense in October 2023. Prior to that, he had been Deputy Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Defense since September 2022.
On May 17, the Cabinet of Ministers dismissed Deputy Minister of Defense Ivan Havrylyuk and appointed him First Deputy Minister of the same department.
