A woman from Poltava region was suspected of a premeditated murder of a newborn son

In the Mirgorod district of Poltava region, a 34-year-old woman was suspected of premeditated murder of her newborn son. According to the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office, the tragedy happened on January 31 this year, when a woman gave birth to a boy at home. After childbirth, she covered the infant with wet clothing, which led to restriction of air access and, as a consequence, the death of the baby from asphyxia.

It is important to note that the suspect is a large mother, but she did not register during pregnancy and did not seek medical help, although she had the opportunity. This fact raised additional questions in the investigation.

Pursuant to Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, a woman is suspected of killing her newborn baby's mother. According to the prosecutor's office, the issue of choosing a precaution in the form of house arrest is currently being resolved.

The pre -trial investigation is ongoing, and investigators of the Mirgorod RVP of the SUNP in the Poltava region continue to work on the case. It is important to note that according to the Constitution of Ukraine, every person is considered innocent until his fault is proved by the court.
