The Bilotserkiv city district court of the Kyiv region decided to detain the well-known anti-corruption activist and the founder of the public organization State Watch, Oleksandr Lemyenov. This event caused a significant resonance in society, because Lemenov is one of the key figures in the fight against corruption in Ukraine.
This became known from the Unified State Register of Court Decisions, "Law and Business" informs.
This decision was made in connection with O. Lemenov's malicious non-appearance at the Bilotserkiv TCC and the Bilotserkiv Police Department.
A week ago, the police sent O. Lymenov a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Article 336 of the Criminal Code, which is punishable by imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years.
As it became known, O. Lemenov escaped from the car of the Bilotserkiv TCC after being detained in a restaurant in Kyiv. At the time, he was reportedly ignoring subpoenas and evading military service.
However, yesterday in social networks O. Lemenov said that he was allegedly mobilized. In fact, he remains a wanted person who has been served with a suspicion notice.
Moreover, yesterday the patients of the 3rd city hospital on Petra Zaporozhets Street in Kyiv appealed to the Dnipro District Department of the National Police of Kyiv with a request to ensure order and protect them from O. Lemenov's aggressive behavior.
Currently, his search has been authorized by a court decision, and he is in the "Oberig" program as a wanted person, and is also listed in the wanted database on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
This is not the first case when anti-corruption activists avoid military service. In the business environment, this phenomenon is called "shabuning". Earlier, other well-known activists evaded military service.
This situation caused a wide public outcry, and also raised questions about the responsibility of public figures who are actively engaged in public activities.
