Criminals used cosmetics to smuggle drugs

Law enforcement officers in Kyiv announced the discovery of a large drug-trafficking market where drugs, including cocaine, ecstasy and hashish, were disguised as cosmetics. According to the investigation, this group received more than a million hryvnias every month, importing their goods from Europe.

According to law enforcement officers, the drug business was organized by a 33-year-old man from Kyiv, who now lives abroad, from where he supplied drugs. He involved six more participants in illegal activities.

Narcotics and psychotropic substances were disguised as household chemicals and cosmetics.

In March of last year, law enforcement officers conducted the first stage of a special operation and detained three suspects, from whom cocaine worth a million hryvnias was seized. Subsequently, the police documented the activities of four more people involved in drug trafficking.

On June 29, in Kyiv, law enforcement officers conducted 10 simultaneous authorized searches at the places of residence of the suspects and in their cars: investigators seized more than 80 grams of cocaine, 50 grams of methamphetamine, 100 MDMA pills, electronic scales, devices for packaging narcotics under the guise of cosmetics, money in the national and foreign currency, packaging materials, "draft" records.

The approximate value of the confiscated "goods" at the prices of the "black" market is more than 3.5 million hryvnias. Physical evidence has been sent for examination

- the National Police said.

Four members of the group were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. They were informed of the suspicion of selling narcotics by a group of persons (Part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code). In addition, the indictment against one of the suspects is already being considered by the Obolon District Court of Kyiv under a similar article.

They face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. The police are identifying all persons involved in the supply of drugs from Europe to Ukraine.
